Meet Our Staff
The Rev. Ted McCulloch, MDiv, Pastor
Ted McCulloch has served as Pastor of First Presbyterian since December, 2014. He came to First Presbyterian from nearby Birch Run, where he had pastored the Taymouth Presbyterian Church for 25 years – since 1989 when he graduated from seminary. Originally from the Chicago area, where his father was a pastor, Ted earned a B.A,. in American History from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. He then went on to earn a Masters in Divinity from Louisville (Ky.) Presbyterian Theological Seminary. That is where he met his wife, DeAnn. Part of the joy of being a pastor is the opportunity to be with people in all sorts of moments in their lives and the chance to share Christ’s love with them. Of course, for Ted, the chance to share a joke or have a laugh is not often overlooked. In addition to serving as the Pastor for First Presbyterian, Ted has served as the Stated Clerk for the Presbytery of Lake Huron since April, 2010. As Stated Clerk he oversees constitutional, judicial, and parliamentary issues for the 46 Presbyterian churches in the region. Outside of his church work, Ted faithfully cheers on his Chicago Cubs – winning the World Series in 2016 was an unforgettable highlight. He still loves to read history of all eras and can usually be found with a book in hand. He especially enjoys ancient Hebrew and Biblical history. The best part of any day for Ted is time with DeAnn and the chance to watch a movie or a baseball game together. Ted and DeAnn love living in the city and being part of this community.
Bambi Straebel,
Parish Visitor
Bambi has been a member of First Presbyterian Saginaw since 1980 and has raised her children in this congregation. She is blessed to be the Parish Visitor for First Presbyterian which gives her the opportunity to reach out to members when they need prayers and spiritual support the most. She has an Associate Degree as a Medical Assistant and has worked for the past 9 years for a home care hospice company.
Jessica Schira,
Financial Secretary
Jessica is a Saginaw native and grew up attending First Pres Saginaw. She was baptized, completed confirmation classes to become a member, was married, and had her daughter baptized here at FPCS. The church has always been part of her life. She became the Financial Secretary in 2016, and is responsible for managing all the financial needs of First Pres. That includes receiving, recording, and depositing all funds taken into the church. She manages payroll, payables, and receivables, and uses all records to create financial reports to reflect where the church stands financially. Jessica has two Associate Degrees from Delta College in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship, and in General Management. She graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. She enjoys spending time with family, and watching her daughter grow everyday has brought tremendous joy to her life.
Marianne Lycka, Church Office Secretary
A native of Saginaw, Marianne has been the Church Office Secretary since June of 2000. Prior to that, she lived in Rhode Island for 22 years and worked throughout those years at CVS Corporate Headquarters in Woonsocket, RI. She held a couple of different positions in Advertising and then as a Recruiting Coordinator in Personnel. As the Office Secretary at First Presbyterian Church of Saginaw she provides for the day to day operations of the church. This includes preparing the Sunday Bulletins and Church newsletter, keeping the membership records, sending out communications to our congregation, and making sure that any facilities maintenance issues are taken care of. In her spare time she likes to read books, enjoy her flower garden, cook and bake, and especially likes to visit her grown up son and his wife in Arizona.
